RA 8293 - Intellectual Property Right
Intellectual property (IP) is a term referring to creations of the intellect for which a monopoly is assigned to designated owners by law.[1] Some common types of intellectual property rights (IPR) are copyright, patents, and industrial design rights; and the rights that protect trademarks, trade dress, and in some jurisdictions trade secrets: all these cover music, literature, and other artistic works; discoveries and inventions; and words, phrases, symbols, and designs. RA 8792 - Electronic Commerce Law
Republic Act 8792, or the Electronic Commerce Law was enacted last June 14, 2000. Efforts for its passage started as early as 1992 with the Electronic Evidence Act. The law defines Philippines policy on electronic transactions to enable the country's players and consumers to actively participate in electronic trade. [video]
RA 9996 - Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism
It is the act of taking photo or video coverage of a person or group of persons performing sexual act or any similar activity or of capturing an image of the private area of a person or persons without the latter's consent, under circumstances in which such person/s has/have a reasonable expectation of privacy, or the act of selling, copying, reproducing, broadcasting, sharing, showing or exhibiting the photo or video coverage or recordings of such sexual act or similar activity through VCD/DVD, internet, cellular phones and similar means or device without the written consent of the person/s involved, notwithstanding that consent to record or take photo or video coverage of same was given by such person's. RA 9775 - Anti-Child Pornography
Child pornography is like a deadly endemic disease with no known treatment that spreads more rapidly through third world countries. It is so contagious that it goads uneducated parents to sell their child in front of a computer in return for money. With technology and the Internet going hand in hand, disposal of their 'products' are transferred in a matter of seconds. Unfortunately, the conspicuous efforts of the authorities may sometimes seem to be sluggish in stopping or lessening the rapid surge of child exploitation in the Philippines [video]
RA 4200 - Anti-Wire Tapping
When Senator Lorenzo Tanada authored Republic Act 4200, the Anti Wiretapping Law in 1965, he wanted to safeguard the Right to Privacy of individual citizens by making it unlawful for the State to employ techniques such as the wiretapping of private conversations. But TaƱada did not make ALL wiretapping or the USE of wiretapped materials unlawful. He provided for a way by which wiretapping could be undertaken legally and wiretapped material used as evidence in certain very special crimes, as long as "any peace officer" secured a written Order of the Court to do so.
